Doug, may I get a regular doctor check-up while on a furlough plan?
Hannah, short-term travel medical plans would not cover check-ups, maternity, pre-existing conditions, or immunizations. For this type of coverage, it would be best to look into an Affordable Care Act insurance (ACA) if you plan on staying in the U.S. for an extended period.

London, for anyone staying in the U.S. for 1 year or longer or those not returning overseas, we have some short term “gap” options. These are not Affordable Care Act insurance (ACA) plans and are available for a maximum of 3-6 months at a time, depending on your State.

Doug how do I know if I have co-insurance on my furlough plan?
Adriana, most furlough travel medical plans use a preferred provider network, or PPO, within the U.S. If you receive treatment within the PPO, typically there is no co-insurance, but there will be a co-insurance due if you do not use the network. You should be able to find this information in your policy documents. When in doubt, Adriana, please ask your agent here at Good Neighbor!
