Do not leave your medical care to chance. Traveling overseas can be an adventure, but what happens if you become ill or injured during your journey? Medicare and many domestic plans offers no to very little coverage for international traveling. Whether you are moving out of the US, maintaining multiple countries of residence or traveling overseas between countries we have a medical plan to fit everyone’s needs including travelers over 65.
We provide plans that include benefits such as:
In addition to having very little or no international coverage, no U.S. domestic health insurance plans we know of provide international medical evacuation insurance. In fact, most people don’t know that U.S. life insurance or term life insurance will not cover them outside of the U.S., which is why we also provide international term life insurance.
Below is information we have provided as an overview for some of the many benefits that are provided in international travel health insurance overseas. The information that is stated first is more important information that you need to know about international travel health insurance.
Medical evacuation insurance is provided on all of our international travel insurance plans. Medical evacuation insurance is very important to have. In case someone needs transportation to the closest medical facility in a medical emergency, the insurance travel health insurance will provide arrangements to take them to be properly treated. This will happen only if there is risk to life or limb or other dire medical condition, which cannot be treated by local medical facilities and resources. This necessitates a medical evacuation. A medical evacuation costs about $60,000 on average, so having international medical evacuation insurance is great to have!
* The insured person or someone with them must contact the insurance company in order for the evacuation benefits to be available.
For claims: If you happen to have covered medical expenses during your travels abroad, it is very important to obtain all receipts and medical records. You can then send in the claim form with all pertaining information for reimbursement of all your covered medical expenses. Please note that your deductible is your responsibility, so the reimbursement will of course be after the deductible has been met.
Repatriation and return of mortal remains is another important benefit of international travel insurance. If someone were to perish while traveling, there can be red tape which costs time and money to bring their body back home. Having this benefit in your travel insurance will certainly be of some relief if this tough situation ever happened.
Most of the travel health insurance benefits that don’t directly deal with the expenses for treatment of medical conditions have their own coverage amounts. Benefits such as medical evacuation, repatriation of mortal remains, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) all usually have their own coverage amounts that are separate from the overall maximum medical limit, yet they are not a separate bundle that you have to add to coverage.
