Why we like it:
This MedJet Assist International Evacuation Insurance plan for travel and adventure sports is an affordable evacuation only plan. It will transport you back home to the to your home country hospital of choice from virtually anywhere in the world. This international evacuation insurance plan is excellent for those who already have medical coverage or a medical “share plan,” and need only emergency evacuation.
We like that there are no health questions, no deductibles or claim forms and no maximum caps. Some of our clients “double up” with a travel medical insurance plan AND this evacuation option so they get to choose where they go to receive emergency medical treatment.
Note: Available for U.S. and Canadian residents.
Residents of other countries – Contact us for availability.
Good for:
- An “emergency evacuation-only” plan for travel 8-30 days

Like this plan, but want coverage for 90 days per trip, or 180 days or 360 days? >>
No health questions, deductibles or claim forms required.
Air medical transport services only require that you be hospitalized as an inpatient, and need hospitalization upon reaching your destination (medevac). No medical necessity – Choose where you get your medical treatment and your own doctors/specialists.
No maximum dollar limit.
You can have the extra benefits of the Medjet International Evacuation Insurance plan or buy one of our overseas trip insurance plans that cover international medical insurance.
This plan is “evacuation-only” (medical transportation including air and land transport), not medical or travel insurance. (All of our adventure sports travel insurance plans also include emergency evacuation as a benefit.) Please make sure your sport is covered in a medical emergency and that you have adequate medical insurance before purchasing a stand-alone medical transportation-only plan.

More About Medjet International Evacuation Insurance with Adventure Sports and Short-term Travel benefits
No medical necessity as long as you are hospitalized as an inpatient
Can choose to be transferred to a hospital in your own home country, even if the facility you are in is considered adequate. As long as the medical doctors with you state you are stable to be medically transported then the choice is yours. It is that simple.
Available for U.S and Canadian residents.
For additional countries please contact us. Will transport back to the hospital of your choice in the country you enrolled from.
Can be used for ‘domestic travel” as well as an international evacuation plan
This plan is available to any Member traveling 150 miles or more from his or her Residence
This plan will not cover “medical tourism.”
It does not allow pre-planned “medical travel” – Travel for the intended purpose of being treated medically/surgery in another location. It is for emergency medical transport.
MedjetAssist medical transport services are not available to a Member for any injury, illness, or condition existing at the time of enrollment where inpatient medical care has already been scheduled or recommended by a health care provider.
This plan will not cover areas under travel restrictions
Due to the high risk of sending registered aircraft and personnel into countries where the United States Department of State has issued travel restrictions, membership services are subject to exclusion in these areas.
No cost limit –
- There is no dollar limit on the cost of your medical transportation from your current location to your hospital of choice.
- A typical air ambulance between Europe and the U.S. can run more than 70,000USD.
- A typical Middle East or South American evacuation flight ranges from 60,000USD to 100,000USD.
- Medical transportation from Asia to the U.S. often exceed 130,000USD
Re: Adventure Sports
This plan can be used by those requiring hospitalization due to participation in an adventure sport or extreme sport.
However, MedjetAssist medical transport services are not available to a Member with mild lesions, simple injuries such as sprains, simple fractures, or mild illnesses that can be treated by local doctors and do not prevent the Member from continuing his or her trip or returning home without medical attention.
About MedJet Assist Emergency Medical Transportation Services
Good Neighbor Insurance is proud to offer Medjet Emergency Evacuation Adventure Sports (Medical transportation) and Emergency Evacuation for Short-term travel services to our clients for one low membership price. Annual travel and adventure sports memberships here.
MedjetAssist is the premier global and domestic air-medical transport membership program for travelers.
If you are hospitalized more than 150 miles from home, MedjetAssist will facilitate getting you back to your home country hospital of choice from virtually anywhere in the world.
Medjet asks no health questions (under age 75), has no emergency evacuation adventure sports travel exclusions, co-pays or cost limitations. There are no claim forms, no deductibles, no out-of-pocket expenses. The whole process is handled as your benefit of membership. There are never any additional charges whatsoever after your membership fee is paid.
Regarding Medical Transportation
Medjet medevac plans are not “search and rescue” plans. And Medjet staff are not “first-responders.”
It won’t get you off the side of a mountain or rescued at sea. You must be able to get to a local medical facility. Once there, if you need medical care, they will bring you to the hospital of your choice in America or your home country.
If you’re physically able to fly commercial, you will be accompanied by medical personnel.
If commercial air travel is not medically tenable, members are transferred by fully medically equipped aircraft.
Members under the age of 75 are allowed two transports per membership year. In the case of a common accident involving multiple enrolled family members, each and every member of the enrolled family will receive one transport.
A family plan membership may include a primary member, a domestic partner or spouse, and up to five dependent children up to age 19 (or up to age 23 for full-time students).
For more, see the Rules & Regulations.pdf below under “Additional Information.”
A Member must be medically stable for medical transport.
Assuming all other medical transport criteria are met, a Member who is initially considered medically unstable for transport to the hospital of the Member’s choice in the Member’s Home Country may first be transported to the nearest appropriate medical facility for initial stabilization. After this initial stabilization, MedjetAssist will arrange continued transport to the hospital of the Member’s choice in the Member’s Home Country if the Member continues to meet medical transport criteria.
MedjetAssist members can also be transferred without regard to medical necessity.
This means members, as long as they are hospitalized as an inpatient, can choose to be transferred to another hospital in their home country, even if the facility they are in is considered adequate. The choice is yours as long as the transfer will not further compromise your health or life.
Medjet has access to more than 300 available private air ambulances staffed with highly qualified pilots and specially trained emergency medical personnel ready to launch at a moment’s notice, from more than 50 locations worldwide. Telephone interpretation is also provided when necessary, as well as emergency message relay. Members receive help with foreign-language interpretation over the telephone when they are having difficulty communicating with local medical specialists by calling our toll-free number (800-963-3538 or call 205-595-6626 in the U.S., Canada or the Caribbean) or calling collect from anywhere in the world.
MedjetAssist has no limit on the cost of a medical transfer.
Many companies and insurance plans place caps, some as low as $25,000, on the total amount available for an air-ambulance. But a medical transfer between Europe and America can run more than $70,000. Middle East and South American flights range from $60,000 to $100,000. Transfer from Asia often exceeds $130,000.
